Welcome to Pops Spedster's Place, where special education teachers, parents and students will find instructional supports and accommodations for people with intellectual disabilities resulting from low incidence and acquired impairments. At Pops Spedster's Place, we use Developmentally Appropriate Instruction (DAI) to teach academic and functional skills related to developmental assessments and Common Core State Standards.

COMMUNITY INSTRUCTION SKILLS

For transition aged students, 16 to 21, IDEA requires that they be taught community living skills.

Safety comes first when one is teaching community-based skills. Having students being able to identify emergency signs is an important skill that also relates to experiencing a safer setting in the community.

This quiz can form a baseline of students' recognition of some of the important emergency signs they will encounter in the community.
