My Journal Entries from Early 2004
By Halloween 2003, my wife Joyce and I had attended a local party where I went as Sigmund Freud and she went as Lizzie Borden. However, I began 2004 in pain. I had just spent the previous summer stripping and refinishing the six foot tall red cedar wainscoting in two rooms of our 1907 Craftsman house.
By January 31, 2004, I was being diagnosed for possible carpal tunnel syndrome. I painfully wrote the following entry in my journal - _____________________________________________________ Before My Carpal Tunnel Surgery
_____________________________________________________
During this same time period, I began to experience severe pain in my knees, ankles and shoulders. Dr. Park referred me to Dr. Sydney Boren, a rhumatologist in Eugene, Oregon. She ran tests and found no RA factor for rheumatoid arthritis. She prescribed Celebrex (before the FDA recalled it). I still had several months to go before my CT surgery. But, the Celebrex did start to relieve my pain, as did the cortisone injections that Dr. Boren gave me.
My last journal entry before going East in the summer of 2004, noted that my carpal tunnel surgery would be done on 4/28/2004. By July 22, 2004, I was visiting friends in New Hampshire. Prior to that in late June and Early July 2004, I played the part of Howard Liszt in OBT's production of "Meshuggah-Nuns!"
I wonder if Teri Albert would have written such a rotten review of my performance if she had known what pain I was in when I was doing the bottle dance? She didn't even like my striptease! If you wnat to see me singing in this musical, click on the Youtube player below or go to You Tube.
