Cooking skills are important Daily Living Skills. People with developmental disabilities face many challenges to being able to cook independently. Some of these challenges include -

1. The ability to follow written, signed or verbal directions;

2. The ability to differentiate between hot and cold items;

3. The ability to identify and use safe cooking procedures;

4. The ability to access and to use common kitchen tools.
